According to Thai News Agency, the Pha Muang Task Force has ordered the Chaiyanuphap Task Force to strictly enforce drug smuggling along the border, which is often carried by people through natural channels. Therefore, they have arranged for patrols to monitor the target area along the route at the end of Arunotai Village, Tambon Muang Na, Amphoe Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai Province.

Until yesterday evening, a group of 30 men were found walking, carrying backpacks, from a neighboring country into Thailand and were resting in a villager's mango orchard. The task force therefore revealed themselves and searched the area. The group of men used an unknown type of firearm to shoot at the officers, which led to a five-minute exchange of gunfire.

After the gunfire stopped, it was found that all the officers were safe, but the group abandoned their belongings and ran away to save themselves. They left 30 sacks of straw that had been converted into backpacks in the garden. An inspection of the backpacks revealed 200,000 methamphetamine pills per bag, totaling about 6 million pills. The drugs were sent to the Na Wai Police Station for legal proceedings.
