Case of 44 Move Forward MPs Not Impacting Thai Parliament or Government

Bangkok: The ongoing case involving 44 former MPs from the Move Forward Party will not impact the operations of Thailand's House of Representatives or the government, according to Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP from the Pheu Thai Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Anusorn commented on the situation where the former MPs are gradually reporting to acknowledge charges of 'serious violation of ethical standards' following the Constitutional Court's decision to dissolve the Move Forward Party. Anusorn emphasized that the government and the Pheu Thai Party remain unaffected by this legal development, regardless of the final outcome. He noted that this situation will not serve as a pivotal moment in Thai politics, despite some critiques suggesting otherwise.

Mr. Anusorn further explained that under the leadership of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the government has two and a half years left in its term to advance its flagship policies successfully. On the topic of constitutional amendments, the Pheu Thai Party has expressed a clear stance that it will not alter Chapters 1 and 2 of the constitution. To establish clear procedural guidelines, Pheu Thai MPs have submitted a motion to the President of the National Assembly, requesting a Constitutional Court ruling on a referendum. This motion has garnered unanimous support from all coalition parties, signaling a unified front in backing the Pheu Thai Party's proposal.

Mr. Anusorn reiterated, 'No matter what the outcome of the case of the serious breach of ethical standards by 44 former MPs of the Move Forward Party is, Thailand must move forward. It will not affect either the parliament or the government.'
