Cambodians Arrested for Illegal Border Crossing While Thais Return from Cambodia

Aranyaprathet: Rangers arrested three Cambodians who were illegally walking on a natural trail on the Aranyaprathet border. Meanwhile, the Immigration Police took four Thais back from Cambodia after they fled to work at a gambling website.

According to Thai News Agency, the Aranyaprathet Task Force, Burapha Force, by the 1201st Ranger Company, organized a patrol to inspect the area of responsibility along the Thai-Cambodian border in Ban Dong Ngu, Pa Rai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. They found three suspicious persons, one man and two women, walking along a nature trail towards the Thai-Cambodian border. They were suspected of illegally leaving the country. Upon inspection, it was discovered that all of them were Cambodian and did not have passports or identification documents. The individuals, identified as Mr. Saron Jim, Mrs. Jam Sakul, and Mrs. Kaew Sara, admitted they lost their passports after coming to sell vegetables and fruits at Rong Kluea Market for a decade.

When the permanent border checkpoint at Ban Khlong Luek was opened and closed, trading slowed, prompting the Cambodians' desire to return home. However, during the arrest, their guide was not found, so the rangers took them to the investigation officer at Khlong Luek Police Station for legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, at the permanent border crossing at Ban Khlong Luek, Aranyaprathet District, the Burapha Force, along with the Sa Kaeo Immigration Police, coordinated with the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh to facilitate the return of four Thais from Cambodia. Mr. Koson and Mr. Thetphong, who had gone to work at an online gambling website and as an electrician at a casino, respectively, entered Cambodia legally but later sought assistance from the Thai Embassy to return home.

In another case, Ms. Matchima and Ms. Aranya, two women from Loei Province, illegally crossed the border to work at a gambling website but were arrested by Cambodian soldiers before commencing work. The Cambodian military, in coordination with the Thai Embassy, facilitated their return, showcasing effective cooperation between the two countries' officials. Initial investigations revealed no arrest warrants, and the individuals were taken to Khlong Luek Police Station for further legal action.
