The session, which took place overnight, saw the Cambodian side submitting proposals for review by their superiors before opening negotiations at 1:00 a.m. and concluding at 2:00 a.m. The main RBC meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. today, with the Cambodian side arriving as planned.
According to Thai News Agency, the secretariat-level meeting of the Thai-Cambodian RBC at the 19th Military Circle's Officers' Club was initially planned for 2:00 PM on August 21 but was postponed until 6:00 PM. The First Army Area and the Royal Thai Army clarified that discussions were ongoing via telephone and email, requiring Cambodia to submit the matter to its commanding officer before proceeding to the negotiation table with Thailand.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. on August 22, Lieutenant General So Kumpa, Deputy Commander of Military Region 5, and the Cambodian delegation arrived at the designated venue. They were received by Major General Suravich Daengchan, Chief of Staff of the 1st Army Area, and Chairman of the Thai Working Group. An unexpected delay occurred as the Cambodian side brought incorrect documents, requiring over an hour to verify the documents.
Subsequently, both parties entered the meeting room to present the corrected documents to the negotiating table at 1:15 a.m., with discussions wrapping up around 2:00 a.m. Although details and agreements from the session are yet to be officially disclosed, the main meeting is set for 10:00 a.m., chaired by Lt. Gen. Amrit Bunsuya, Commander of the 1st Army Region, alongside General Som-on from the Cambodian side, Commander of Military Region 5.
