Cabinet Approves B.Grimm’s Clean Energy Investment in Eastern Economic Corridor

Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved B.Grimm to invest in clean energy in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), with a production capacity of 18 MW and a 25-year contract, supporting the green economy and investment of over 2 trillion baht.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the Cabinet Meeting No. 32/2025 resolved to approve the granting of an energy business license to B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited to operate a power generation project in the EEC. The project has a generating capacity of 18 megawatts and a maximum power supply capacity of 15 megawatts under a 25-year contract to meet increasing electricity demand stemming from industrial expansion in the area.

The Cabinet resolution emphasized that energy projects in the EEC must be implemented within a framework of standards and safety measures, including the development of a Preliminary Code of Practice (CoP) to serve as guidelines for efficient, transparent, and accountable energy system installation and connection. This also elevates energy management to international standards, which will build confidence among electricity consumers and investors.

B.Grimm's approved projects are also part of the development of hybrid and co-generation power plants, which are crucial for enhancing power system stability, reducing the risk of dependence on fossil fuels, and supporting the long-term transition to clean energy. They also help increase the efficiency of energy resource utilization and reduce overall system costs.

The Cabinet Secretariat noted that the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) currently purchases electricity from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a power purchase agreement (PPA). The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT)'s purchase of electricity from B.Grimm Power (B.Grimm Power) may reduce the amount of electricity purchased from EGAT and impact the overall forecast of electricity generation and reserves.

However, as the Ministry of Energy is currently preparing a new Power Development Plan (PDP), the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) should inform the Ministry of B.Grimm Power of its electricity production and sales volumes to be used in preparing the plan.

"The granting of permission for B.Grimm to operate its energy business in the EEC reflects Thailand's readiness to provide quality energy infrastructure to support investment. The EEC is a strategic location that plays a crucial role in driving the economy and attracting significant investment, which will enhance the country's competitiveness on the global stage," said Ms. Sasikarn.
