Buriram United Defeats Muang Thong United 3-1 to Maintain Lead in Thai League

Bangkok: Thunder Castle's Buriram United secured a 3-1 victory over Kirins' Muang Thong United in a pivotal match, maintaining their top position in the Thai League.

According to Thai News Agency, the Revo Thai League 1 Big Match saw Muang Thong United, ranked fourth, hosting Buriram United at BG Stadium.

The match kicked off with an early goal in the 12th minute when Buriram's Sasalak Haiprakhon took a shot that slipped past Muang Thong's defense, putting Buriram ahead 1-0. However, Muang Thong United equalized in the 41st minute, thanks to Sarawit Panthong's free kick, which deflected off Guillerme Bissoli's leg, ending the first half at 1-1.

In the second half, Buriram regained their lead in the 54th minute when Sasalak's corner kick took a fortunate bounce, finding its way into the goal for a 2-1 advantage. The match was sealed in the 90+2 minute with a free kick goal from Rattanakorn Maikami, concluding the game at 3-1 in favor of Buriram United. This victory solidifies Buriram's position at the top of the league with 54 points after 22 matches, while Muang Thong remains in fourth place with 35 points from 21 matches.

Elsewhere, at True Stadium, True Bangkok United, the league's second-ranked team, faced Nong Bua Pitchaya FC. The first half ended goalless. The second half saw True Bangkok reduced to 10 players after Thitiphan Puangjan received a red card in the 67th minute. Despite this, Mahmoud Eid scored the decisive goal two minutes later, securing a 1-0 win for True Bangkok United. Nong Bua Pitchaya also ended with 10 players after a late red card for Chawin Srichan. True Bangkok now has 47 points, trailing Buriram by seven points, while Nong Bua sits in 14th place with 22 points, battling relegation concerns.

In a separate result, Lamphun Warriors defeated Singha Chiang Rai 1-0 in the Revo Football Thai League 1.
