Budget Committee 69 Establishes Eight Subcommittees to Finalize Fiscal Year 2026 Budget

Bangkok: "Budget Committee 69" has initiated the formation of eight subcommittees to refine the upcoming budget, which is set for completion by July 29. Mr. Chanin Rungthanakiat, a member of parliament from the Pheu Thai Party and spokesperson for the Special Committee tasked with reviewing the draft of the Budget Act for Fiscal Year 2026, shared the outcomes of the recent committee meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting held on June 30 resulted in the establishment of the following subcommittees: 1. Subcommittee on training, seminars, public relations, contract fees, consultant fees, rental fees, expenses for overseas travel, operating budget, subsidy budget, and other expenses; 2. Subcommittee on ICT equipment and revolving funds; 3. Subcommittee on land and buildings; 4. Subcommittee on local government, city municipalities, sub-district municipalities, and subsidies allocated to local administrative organizations (sub-district administrative organizations) of the Department of Local Administration Promotion; 5. Subcommittee on provinces/groups of provinces, provincial administrative organizations, Bangkok Pattaya City and State Enterprises; 6. Subcommittee on Education, Science, Research and Technology Transfer; 7. Subcommittee on Integrated Plans; and 8. Subcommittee on Observations.

Mr. Chanin emphasized that the role of these subcommittees is to identify potential reductions in unnecessary budget allocations. These recommendations will be presented to the main committee, which holds the authority to implement the budget cuts. The process aims to ensure the budget is finalized by the end of July.
