Bangkok: "Big Pom" has called on party members to oppose proposed casino and amnesty laws, while praising the patriotic display by Thai citizens. He is also backing the "Bhumjaithai" party in filing a no-confidence motion against Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya Tawichai, spokesperson for the Palang Pracharath Party, and Mr. Akara Thongjaisod, the deputy spokesperson, addressed the media following a meeting of the party's executive committee and MPs. During the press conference, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, expressed his gratitude to the citizens who demonstrated their love for the nation, religion, and monarchy at the Victory Monument and other locations, with participation numbers in the hundreds of thousands.
The assembly was a significant display of nationalism, with Thai citizens gathering to show their love for their country. They emphasized the importance of preserving the land and maintaining national integrity. The party leader stressed that such patriotism should transcend political affiliations and that protecting the nation's territory is a collective responsibility.
The proposed Entertainment Complex Act, which was previously postponed by the cabinet led by Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, is anticipated to be presented to parliament on July 9. Gen. Prawit and the party's executive committee have unanimously decided to oppose this Act, which would allow free casinos in Thailand. The Palang Pracharath Party has resolved to vote against any motion supporting this legislation.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya stated that the party also opposes the idea of proposing an amnesty bill, as suggested by some Pheu Thai MPs. The party maintains its stance against both the casino legislation and any amnesty proposals.
In response to the Bhumjaithai Party's coordination with opposition parties to propose a no-confidence motion against Ms. Paethongtarn's government, Gen. Prawit has declared the Palang Pracharath Party's readiness to support this motion by signing it.
Additionally, the party's policy and economic teams presented their recent accomplishments, particularly in assisting flood victims in Chiang Rai Province, including districts such as Mae Sai, Phaya Mengrai, and Mueang. The efforts of deputy party leaders and House of Representatives candidates in providing aid were highlighted at the party meeting.
