Big Pom Urges Firm Stance on Cambodian Sovereignty Issue

Bangkok: "Big Pom" has issued a stern warning, emphasizing the need for Thailand to maintain a firm stance on the sovereignty stage. The political game must be played with awareness, and Thailand must respond appropriately to Cambodia's encroachment on its sovereignty. There should be no compromise, and frontline soldiers are encouraged to remain resolute, with a caution against allowing patience to be misinterpreted as weakness.

According to Thai News Agency, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, expressed his concern over Cambodia's encroachment on sovereignty. Drawing on his extensive experience in border areas, he highlighted that national security is a sensitive issue requiring true knowledge, understanding, and strategic expertise. He urged the government to demonstrate a clear and decisive stance, ensuring that encroachment on sovereignty is not overlooked. Reasonable countermeasures in diplomacy, economics, law, and military capabilities should be prioritized to safeguard Thailand's interests.

Gen. Prawit asserted that while Thailand is committed to peace and avoids confrontation, it must be prepared to address any insincerity or escalation of the problem to the world stage by Cambodia. If bilateral mechanisms are bypassed and the issue is internationalized, Thailand must be ready to respond comprehensively, as shallow compromises could lead to a lack of consideration and fear from the negotiating partner.

He emphasized that international rules are designed for 'gentlemen,' and if the other side refuses sincere negotiation, Thailand must prepare proactive measures to gain an advantage. Clear and direct communication with the public and friendly countries is crucial to prevent misunderstandings on the international stage.

Gen. Prawit conveyed his support to the troops stationed in the border areas, commending the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy, and Royal Thai Air Force, particularly the Commander of the 2nd Army Area, for their dedication and determination in guarding against threats to the nation.

He reiterated Thailand's commitment to peace but stressed the necessity of defending its sovereignty with resolve, asserting that Thai land must belong to Thai people only. He called on all parties, from high-level policymakers to frontline soldiers, to unite with a patriotic spirit to protect the nation.
