“Big Pom” Refuses Government Role and Demands Prime Minister’s Resignation

Bangkok: In a decisive move, General Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, has announced that his party will not join the current government and has called for the Prime Minister to resign. This announcement comes amidst controversy surrounding an audio clip incident.

According to Thai News Agency, General Prawit, alongside key members of the Palang Pracharath Party, including Mr. Santi Promphat, Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, and Mr. Paiboon Nititawan, held a press conference to declare the party's stance as a committed opposition. General Prawit emphasized that the party would maintain its position as an opposition with integrity and quality, rejecting any overtures to join the government.

General Prawit addressed the audio clip issue, stating that regardless of who recorded it, its release constitutes a violation of individual rights. He asserted that the Prime Minister's remarks in the clip insulted the dignity of the Thai people and compromised the nation's stability and trust. Consequently, General Prawit insists the Prime Minister should take responsibility by resigning.

During the press conference, when questioned about Mr. Santi's dinner with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, General Prawit quickly dismissed any speculation, affirming that party members remain united and that the dinner was a mere social occasion.

Furthermore, General Prawit confirmed that he had been contacted by government leaders but reiterated his commitment to remain in opposition. He refused to disclose details about any offers or discussions, maintaining a firm stance against joining the government, even if the Prime Minister were to be replaced.

When asked about conversations with Mr. Anutin, General Prawit acknowledged they had spoken but chose not to reveal the content of their discussion.
