Bhumjaithai Party Submits Draft Constitutional Amendment to National Assembly

Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party has submitted a draft constitutional amendment to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, declaring that what they say will be followed through on the MOA. Today, the Bhumjaithai Party, led by Mr. Krawee Prisananantakul, MP for Ang Thong, and Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, MP for Ubon Ratchathani, submitted a draft amendment to Article 256, Section 15/1 of the Constitution, regarding the drafting of a new constitution, to Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly. According to Thai News Agency, the main points of the draft include the selection process for members of the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA). The CDA will consist of 77 members selected by Parliament through representatives from each province, along with 22 other members who will be experts in law, political science, and other fields who have previously drafted constitutions. When asked about the primary draft for the government's constitutional amendment process, Ms. Nan stated that the decisi on on which party's draft would be the primary would need further discussion. She emphasized that the submission of the draft amendment was a fulfillment of a promise, noting that it was not only Phra Khun Jai Thai but also MPs from coalition government parties who signed the draft. In response to inquiries about compliance with the MOA, Ms. Nan confirmed that the Bhumjaithai Party had adhered to its commitments.
