Bangkok Tops Global List as Best City for Remote Work

Bangkok: Deputy government spokesperson Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan has announced that the New York Post website ranks Bangkok as the number one city globally for remote work, highlighting its low costs, fast internet, and beautiful views.

According to Thai News Agency, the ranking was part of a study where cities could score up to 100 points, with Bangkok achieving a score of 69.98. This score reflects its strengths in offering high-speed internet and an affordable lifestyle compared to other cities.

Ms. Sasikarn emphasized that Bangkok's energy and vibrancy make it ideal for digital nomads seeking a blend of modernity and traditional culture. The New York Post website indicated that remote work has become a popular option, especially after nearly five years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ranking was compiled by experts from QR Code Generator, who considered factors such as internet speed, cost of living, access to remote work visas, among others. Bucharest, Romania, followed Bangkok with a score of 65.62, noted for its ease of access to remote work visas.

Ms. Sasikarn also highlighted the Thai government's plans to boost tourism by extending visa-free entry to 93 countries/territories for stays up to 60 days. Additionally, a new 'Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)' will be issued for foreigners interested in working remotely or engaging in cultural and medical activities in Thailand, aiming to stimulate the economy year-round.
