Sa kaeo: The 1st Army Area's Security Operations Command (SOC) has officially declared Ban Nong Chan, located in Sa Kaeo Province, as a peacekeeping zone. This decision comes in response to escalating tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a member of the Special Task Force for the Administration of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation, disclosed that the Burapha Task Force of the 1st Army Region has reported the designation of Ban Nong Chan, within the Non Mak Mun Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, as a peacekeeping area. This action follows incidents where civilians from Cambodia were reportedly brought into Thailand to instigate riots, as detailed in Burapha Task Force Announcement No. 109/2568, dated August 28, 2025. The peacekeeping designation is effective immediately.
Mr. Jirayu emphasized that the Burapha Task Force's announcement not only marks Ban Nong Chan as a peacekeeping zone but also includes Sri Phen Road in the same subdistrict. Specific measures have been outlined for maintaining peace and order in these areas.
The measures include prohibitions on carrying weapons or imitation weapons, blocking roads that disrupt official duties and local livelihoods, photographing military bases, engaging in quarrels or alcohol consumption, and using amplifiers without permission. These measures aim to safeguard Thai sovereignty and protect the lives and property of Thai citizens.
The responsibility for enforcing these measures and ensuring the protection of Thai territory falls to the Burapha Force, 1st Army Area. They are charged with the critical task of preventing any intrusion into Thai land, reinforcing the commitment to national security and territorial integrity.
