Bangkok: The Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities of the royal rainmaking operations by acquiring two new L-410NG aircraft. These aircraft will play a vital role in dam water replenishment, forest fire suppression, and PM 2.5 mitigation. An additional plan is underway to develop Tak Airport into a major operational base for the northern region. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, visited the Northern Royal Rainmaking Operations Center located in Nam Ruem Subdistrict, Mueang Tak District, Tak Province. His visit aimed to oversee the progress of transforming Tak Airport into the primary base for royal rainmaking operations in northern Thailand. This strategic move is intended to support weather modification missions addressing drought, forest fires, and PM 2.5 dust pollution. The Minister disclosed that the responsibility for Tak Airport was officially transferred from the Department of Airports, Ministry of Transport, to the Ministry of Agriculture on January 22nd. This transition enables the development of Tak Airport into the central hub for royal rainmaking operations in the northern region, taking over from the existing center in Chiang Mai. Additionally, the Ministry is considering the establishment of an aviation personnel development center, which would feature a state-of-the-art full-flight simulator to enhance the skills of pilots, aircraft mechanics, and other related personnel. The Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department's acquisition of two L-410NG aircraft marks an enhancement in its operational capabilities. These aircraft are capable of flying up to 2,500 kilometers and reaching speeds of 417 kilometers per hour. They are outfitted with the advanced Garmin G3000 Glass Cockpit system, ensuring their suitability for weather modification missions in the region. Mr. Atthakorn emphasized that the new aircraft will be integral in operations such as dam water replenishment, forest fire suppression, and PM2.5 mitigation. They are also expected to significantly alleviate the hardships faced by farmers and residents in the northern area. Furthermore, he urged pilots and officials to make efficient use of both the new and existing aircraft to benefit the public optimally.
