Arrested “Bird Bangsaen” Drug Dealer in the Middle of a Pond, Almost Died

Sa Kaeo: A drug dealer, known as 'Bird Bangsaen', was dramatically arrested in the middle of a pond after attempting to flee from law enforcement officers. The arrest was carried out by the officers of Mueang Sa Kaeo District, along with the 1st Sa Kaeo Provincial Volunteer Defense Corps Company and the local task force. The suspect, Mr. Supachai, aged 35, tried to escape by jumping into a pond over 2 meters deep. Despite his efforts to destroy evidence by attempting to dissolve drugs in the water, he ran out of energy and appeared to be in distress, prompting officers to rescue him.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation was initiated following reports from locals regarding drug trafficking activities in Sala Lamduan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Sa Kaeo Province. The commander of the 1st Company of the Volunteer Defense Corps of Sa Kaeo Province, along with local subdistrict headmen, collaborated to gather intelligence and execute an undercover operation. An undercover agent arranged to buy drugs from Mr. Bird, who was to deliver them at 4:30 p.m. in Soi Wat Khlong Sombat, Village 12, Sa Kaeo Subdistrict. At the scheduled time, officers observed Mr. Bird as he arrived and contacted the undercover agent. Once confident of the situation, the officers moved in to make the arrest.

During the arrest attempt, Mr. Bird fled from his motorcycle and leaped into the nearby pond, hoping to elude capture and destroy the incriminating evidence. However, as he struggled in the deep water, officers noted his weakening state and intervened to rescue him. After bringing him to shore, the officers conducted a search and successfully recovered a black shoulder bag containing the evidence: 173 methamphetamine pills and over 14 grams of crystal methamphetamine, all intact.

Following his arrest, Mr. Bird was subjected to initial questioning before being handed over to the investigation officer at Muang Sa Kaeo Police Station for further legal proceedings.
