Bangkok: Arrested! Ms. Golf, aged 35, is now in custody as she faces serious charges, including money laundering and conspiracy. The arrest, executed by Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew of the Central Investigation Bureau, alongside Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasong Chalermphan and other officials, follows an arrest warrant issued by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. This follows the discovery of a financial trail linking her to the former Phra Thep Patcharaporn, with substantial funds transferred into her account from Wat Chu Chit Thammaram.
According to Thai News Agency, the Anti-Corruption Division is intensifying its investigation to uncover further connections and financial transactions involving Ms. Golf. The investigation will scrutinize every image and video clip to verify their authenticity, as well as trace all monetary transactions related to Ms. Golf, the monks involved, and other associated individuals, to gather evidence for prosecution.
The investigation has revealed that over 25 monks have close links with Ms. Golf, similar to earlier cases. Some monks, after disrobing, provided information about others, although many images and clips were deleted by Ms. Golf. The authorities are working to recover this data, some of which has already been retrieved and contains significant revelations.
Recently, Ms. Golf was brought to the Anti-Corruption Division offices, where she maintained silence despite reporters' questions, bearing a serious demeanor.
The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases has charged Ms. Golf with multiple offenses related to her alleged involvement in embezzlement, misconduct, and money laundering activities. These include accusations of aiding officials in improper conduct and receiving stolen goods.
A progress update on the case is expected from Pol. Lt. Col. Charoonkiat Pankaew and relevant agencies later today at 4:00 p.m.
