Anutin Welcomes UN Assistant Secretary-General, Discusses Sustainable Development and Air Quality

Bangkok: Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, welcomed Ms. Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the United Nations Development Programme's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and her team at the Ministry of Interior's City Hall. The meeting focused on advancing the SDG Localization project and addressing the PM 2.5 air pollution issue.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin expressed the Ministry of Interior's commitment to expanding the SDG Localization project across all 76 provinces to enhance the quality of life. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry, in collaboration with local leaders, to mitigate PM 2.5 pollution through preventive measures and awareness campaigns. The cooperation with the UN aims to promote environmentally friendly practices among farmers and improve public understanding of relevant laws.

Ms. Kanni Wignaraja commended the Ministry of Interior for its efforts in promoting sustainable development and assured that the UNDP and its network would continue to support these initiatives to build a sustainable foundation for Thai society.
