Pai: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul visited the walking street in Pai District, Mae Hong Son Province, to inspect the care of tourists and business operations in the area. Anutin aimed to assure tourists of their safety and the vibrant tourism atmosphere post-Covid-19.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin engaged with tourism business operators, inquiring about the influx of tourists and their satisfaction levels compared to the Covid-19 outbreak period. Operators expressed contentment, noting that tourism had indeed increased and that their businesses, which include services like tour guide vans and passenger vans, were thriving. Anutin emphasized safety, echoing operators' assurances that the area was secure and that insurance was provided during travels.
During his visit, Anutin interacted with a foreign tourist, who inquired about his identity. Anutin introduced himself and reassured all tourists of the safety in Thailand, encouraging them to enjoy their travels. He also engaged with Israeli tourists, addressing any concerns they might have about traveling in Thailand.
Anutin reported that business operators expressed satisfaction with the rising tourism numbers. However, he urged for stricter enforcement of rules to enhance the city's appeal, ensuring it remains attractive and safe for tourists. Anutin encountered stickers mourning the Israeli dead on poles and in front of shops during his inspection. He directed the mayor of Pai to remove these stickers, advocating for public understanding about the appropriate use of public spaces for such expressions. He suggested placing such stickers at Chabad instead to avoid hurting tourist sentiments.
Anutin took a moment to rest at a herbal drink shop, where the owner, a supporter of the Bhumjaithai Party, expressed appreciation for the party's natural policies, particularly regarding cannabis. The shop owner quietly mentioned issues concerning Israeli tourists, to which Anutin promised to consult with the ambassador and local authorities for resolution, while encouraging business owners to be welcoming and open-minded towards tourists.
