Bangkok: "Anutin" insists on telling the truth, counters "Ing" that the Ministry of the Interior does not take care of the police. Anutin Charnvirakul, former Interior Minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed concerns regarding his recent message supporting the withdrawal of the Entertainment Complex Act, emphasizing that his statements were factual and not exaggerated.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin confirmed that his post was meant to clarify the party's position, stating that President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China opposed the Entertainment Complex Act. He reaffirmed that the Bhumjaithai Party's decision was to withdraw the act and prevent its resubmission. Anutin stressed that his post did not disclose any sensitive details but highlighted the party's readiness to support the withdrawal of the motion.
Regarding Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Paethongtarn Shinawatra's claims that Chinese tourists are hesitant to visit Thailand due to safety concerns, Anutin clarified that the Ministry of the Interior does not oversee police operations. He explained that multiple factors affect tourism, and during his tenure as Minister of Interior, governors were instructed to ensure tourists' safety and convenience.
Addressing speculations that the Bhumjaithai Party sought a ministerial position to support the bill, Anutin refuted such claims. He argued that the party's interest was in governance, not positions, and that any broken agreements did not align with their intentions. Anutin remarked that had they aimed for a ministerial role, he would have pursued the position of Minister of Public Health.
