Anutin Clarifies Sino-Thai’s Role as a Rental Building Amidst DSI Investigation

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, addressed concerns over the recent investigation by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) into the Prince Group, emphasizing that the Sino-Thai building is merely a rental property. This statement comes in the wake of a DSI raid aimed at uncovering any possible illegal activities associated with the Prince Group. Anutin criticized media outlets for potentially misrepresenting the situation, asserting that Sino-Thai's involvement is limited to being a rental provider.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin elaborated on the DSI's inspection and its discussions with the Thai shareholders of Prince Group, which operates out of the Sino-Thai Tower. He clarified that while the building generates income from rental spaces, tenants are responsible for their own actions. Anutin firmly stated that if any tenants engage in illegal activities, they will face prosecution. He emphasized, "Don't tie the knot. If Sino-Thai is the scammer itself, then you can see how it relates to my family. But here, they rent."

Anutin further noted that the term "Prince" is commonly used and should not automatically imply his involvement. He reassured family members that he would disengage if any unethical connections were found. He also addressed questions about receiving reports from the DSI, acknowledging awareness of illegal operations by the Prince Group but expressing no concern about their location. Anutin maintained that further investigation would determine any involvement, with legal actions to follow if necessary.

After discussions with Woraphat Thanyawong, a former Deputy Minister of Finance, Anutin confirmed mutual understanding and downplayed concerns about ethical implications, asserting that there is no fear of legal repercussions. He reiterated confidence in the ongoing investigations, stating, "If there are allegations, then we'll proceed with the case."

Regarding communication with the Prime Minister, Anutin confirmed that a letter was dispatched to clarify the situation, having been sent 2-3 days prior.
