Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has addressed the controversy surrounding Chaichanok Chidchob, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, stating that the issue is a personal matter and not subject to further penalties. Anutin affirmed his commitment to supporting the Prime Minister's policy as part of the coalition party.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin discussed the situation with Chaichanok during Songkran, focusing on Chaichanok's controversial remarks against casinos during a House of Representatives meeting. Anutin recounted a conversation where Chaichanok intended to pour water over his head, a traditional gesture, but logistical issues arose due to their different locations-Chaichanok in Buriram and Anutin in Chonburi. Despite the controversy, Anutin emphasized a familial bond with the Chidchob family and reaffirmed that the Bhumjaithai Party continues to support the Prime Minister's policies.
Anutin further elaborated that the situation does not require additional understanding or disciplinary action, asserting that expressing individual opinions is not akin to a school setting where small mistakes warrant punishment. He reiterated that Chaichanok's statements were personal opinions and not reflective of any party resolution. Anutin confirmed that minutes from recent party meetings showed no resolutions regarding this matter.
