Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul recently conducted a media tour of his office at the Ministry of Interior following the relocation of various items. During the visit, Anutin expressed surprise at the color change in the dragon fish tank, which led him to exclaim, "A disaster has struck," hinting at his intention to maintain his individuality and refrain from supporting the entertainment complex initiative.
According to Thai News Agency, upon entering his office, Anutin noticed that the dragon fish tank's water had turned from white to green. When questioned by reporters, Anutin explained that the fish was suffering from eye pain, prompting officials to add medicine to the water, thereby altering its color.
Anutin, seated at his desk cluttered with documents, articulated his readiness to sign urgent or necessary papers but advised the new minister to wait for non-urgent matters to uphold decorum. He emphasized the need for continuous administrative duties, while noting the Buddha image in the office belonged to the Ministry of the Interior, serving as a central symbol.
Reflecting on his tenure, Anutin shared that he would miss his colleagues the most after nearly two years of cohesive work driving policies without division between permanent and political departments. He stated that his official duties had concluded, and he could now act freely, preparing to resume his role as a Member of Parliament when the house reconvenes.
When asked about taking a break during the parliamentary session, Anutin noted that work itself serves as a form of rest for him, drawing on his upbringing among Chinese people who do not emphasize vacations.
Regarding the Entertainment Complex Act draft, Anutin conveyed that the Bhumjaithai Party would follow its beliefs, supporting government initiatives when necessary to avoid creating gaps in cooperation. However, now free from certain duties, he intends to act in alignment with what he believes is best.
Addressing concerns about a collusion case involving senators, Anutin reassured that he is not afraid, prepared to defend himself legally, and questioned the motives behind interference. He also addressed the Khao Kradong land issue, expressing willingness to adhere to legal processes, with the Chidchob family showing no concern despite the longstanding nature of the issue.
When asked about seeking opposition knowledge from Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, known as Ice, Anutin jokingly mentioned considering training with the opposition, referencing Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn and Ice's involvement with the Sky Nine building.
As the tour concluded, Anutin highlighted his most treasured office item, pointing to the back of his desk and identifying 'Whoo' or the 'Yant Sien Pae Rongsi' as particularly significant.
