Anutin Charnvirakul Denies Preparing for Prime Minister Role

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has denied any preparations to assume the role of Prime Minister, emphasizing that discussions at the party meeting did not address the political situation post-August 29. He expressed a desire for peace in the country and clarified his long-standing relationship with Sarath Ratanavadi, with whom he was recently photographed.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed the Bhumjaithai Party meeting by questioning whether the political situation was discussed, stating, "No. We are MPs. Regardless of the government's political situation, the House of Representatives remains in place and has not been dissolved. We must continue to work as MPs to the best of our ability." He detailed that the meeting focused on legislative work, particularly the proposed MOU 43-44 motion.

When questioned about the possibility of the Prime Minister being removed from office, Anutin expressed that everyone desires a peaceful and orderly country. He dismissed speculations linking a photo opportunity with Sarath Ratanavadi, also known as Gulf, to preparations for the Prime Minister's position, recounting their long history together as engineering students and colleagues.

Anutin further clarified that there was no preparation for becoming Prime Minister, and he felt embarrassed referring to Sarath formally, as he usually addresses him more familiarly. He stated readiness to assume any top-tier role within the party, whether in the government or opposition.

Additionally, when asked about support for his candidacy as Prime Minister, Anutin indicated that there is currently no support and that he would wait until there is one.
