Villagers urge government agencies to take action. Since morning, the amount of PM 2.5 dust in Mueang Ang Thong District has risen to 181 AQI or 99 micrograms, which is above the standard. Meanwhile, in 7 districts of the province, the amount of dust is between 81.2-86.1 micrograms, putting the entire province in the red zone, ranked 6th in the country. The continuous cold weather and no wind has caused the amount of dust to increase above the standard, requiring special monitoring.
According to Thai News Agency, initial investigations found that despite warnings from relevant agencies to refrain from burning weeds in open areas, illegal burning was still found in many areas, leading to calls for serious legal action. While the overall PM2.5 levels nationwide, the North exceeded the standard in 10 areas, measuring 13.0-51.5 µg/m3. The Northeast exceeded the standard for the most part, measuring 34.4-70.0 µg/m3. The Central and Western regions mostly exceeded the standard, measuring 34.2-75.0 µg/m3. The East mostly exceeded the standard, measuring 32.6-70.6 µg/m3. The South exceeded the standard in 1 area, measuring 14.1-45.9 µg/m3. Bangkok and its vicinity mostly exceeded the standard, measuring 36.2-68.7.
