Khon Kaen: The Teachers Council has suspended all types of professional licenses of a school director who was found selling methamphetamine. The board will investigate the case and if found guilty, order its revocation. The director will lose the right to practice his profession.
According to Thai News Agency, the school administrator from Khon Kaen Province was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, with evidence of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) amounting to 369 pills discovered in a room in Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen Province.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amolwan Wirathammo, Secretary-General of the Teachers Council, stated that the Teachers Council Secretariat reviewed the professional license information of the educational institution administrators. It was found that the director holds a teaching license valid until May 30, 2025, and a professional license for educational institution administrators that expires on June 25, 2027. Coordination with the Happiness and Safety Management Center, Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), revealed that the parent agency has formed a fact-finding committee and ordered the director's dismissal from government service. The Teachers Council Secretariat has initiated the professional ethics consideration process and urgently proposed to the Professional Standards Committee to suspend all professional licenses due to the severity of the case and the director's dismissal from government service. A letter has been sent to the parent agency to inquire about the facts and submit them to the Profession al Standards Committee for consideration in appointing an investigation committee.
Following the suspension of the educational professional license, the subcommittee investigating the professional misconduct will expedite the review according to the Teachers Council regulations on the consideration of professional misconduct, B.E. 2553, and amendments. If the legal procedures confirm an offense, it will be proposed to the Professional Standards Committee to revoke all types of professional licenses of the educational institution administrator.
