98 Witnesses Questioned in Auditor General Building Collapse Case

Bangkok: Police have questioned 98 witnesses in connection with the State Audit Office building collapse, as they await results from the examination of evidence at the scene.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, provided an update on the prosecution progress. The investigation has been divided into two parts: the first involves autopsies to confirm the identities of the deceased, which remains incomplete as the search for those trapped continues. The second part focuses on prosecuting individuals partly responsible for the collapse.

Police have interviewed 13 officials from the companies involved, 15 relatives of the deceased, 64 witnesses and relatives of the victims at the scene, and 6 injured people, totaling 98 witnesses. Evidence collection is ongoing and includes both witness testimonies and material evidence from the scene, with results from experts still pending. The police are expediting the process but have not set a timeframe for potential prosecutions or charges.
