Bangkok: A 53-year-old man armed with a powered chainsaw broke into Gate 4 of the Government House. Police brought in iron barriers to negotiate to control the situation before persuading him to go to the complaint center. It was found that he had previously climbed a building to hold up protest signs during the government of General Prayut. According to Thai News Agency, reporters from Government House detailed that the incident took place this morning at Gate 4 on Phitsanulok Road. The man, identified as Mr. Chalerm Sonnonthi from Nan Province, was wearing an orange reflective vest and long jeans. He caused panic among police officers, civil servants, and others present by attempting to enter the Government House area with an always-active electric saw in both hands. The police responded promptly by setting up iron barriers to block the entrance and engaged in negotiations to calm Mr. Chalerm. They succeeded in persuading him to move to the Government House Complaint Center to discuss his grievances. O fficials revealed that Mr. Chalerm had repeatedly tried to meet with senior figures at Government House over wage disputes related to his work as a construction contractor for a state hospital in Nan Province. In a previous protest, he climbed a tree beside the Government House fence and reached the roof of the Police Guard Building to display a protest sign. This incident occurred during the administration of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the former Prime Minister, and was resolved through negotiation by the officers.
