Regions urged to publicize benefits of consuming animal proteins

nimal proteins are crucial because they contain many essential nutrients that are needed by the body.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and CultureMuhadjir Effendy has asked regional governments to boost public education on the benefits of consuming animal proteins to prevent childhood stunting.”Education on the benefits of animal proteins to prevent stunting must continue to be intensified,” he said in a statement released here on Monday.

ccording to Effendy, the community needs to be reminded continuously that the main measure for stunting prevention and handling is the nutritional fulfillment of pregnant women and under-five children, especially through the consumption of animal proteins.

“Animal proteins are crucial because they contain many essential nutrients that are needed by the body. The various nutrients in animal proteins are very beneficial to support the growth and development of a child’s brain,” he said.

The minister also highlighted that the main point of stunting prevention and handling is ensuring that children’s brains grow and develop well.

“The most dangerous condition of stunting is when the child’s brain cannot grow and develop well,” he said.

Therefore, regional governments are expected to boost education and carry out specific and sensitive interventions right on target, he added.

Specific interventions involve efforts made to handle the direct causes of stunting, while sensitive interventions cover efforts to tackle the indirect causes of stunting, he explained.

These interventions are regulated by Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 regarding stunting reduction acceleration.

ccording to him, the government has continued to optimize stunting reduction programs, including by ensuring that the nutritional needs of pregnant women and under-five children are fulfilled.

Based on the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) 2022, Indonesia’s stunting prevalence currently stands at 21.6 percent. The government is targeting to reduce stunting prevalence to 14 percent by 2024, Effendy noted.

The 11th batch of SIKS-NG Technical Training was held at Padang BBPPKS’ Campus II in Padang, West Sumatra, on February 22-25, 2023. The participants comprise operators from the city and district as well as provincial governments.

Some 71 people from the Riau Social Office, Riau Islands, and Jambi participated in the training.

Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road to be complete by 2024: minister

Insya Allah (God willing), the remaining 51 percent of its construction will get completed by December 2023

Solo, C Java (ANTARA) – The Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road would be completed by 2024 as land acquisition for the section is expected to be finished by the first quarter of this year, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono informed. The land acquisition for the Solo-Yogyakarta section has reached 94 percent completion, he said during a working visit to ColomaduSub-district, Karanganyar District, Central Java Province, on Monday.

He visited the sub-district to review the construction progress of the Trans-Java toll road section.

ccording to Hadimuljono, the development of the Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road has reached 49 percent completion.

“Insya Allah (God willing), the remaining 51 percent of its construction will get completed by December 2023,” he said.

People have been waiting for the completion of the toll road amid a significant increase in vehicle volumes on the Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo road. “Some 20 thousand to 25 thousand vehicles pass through the road every day,” he noted.

The Kartasura intersection on the Solo-Yogyakarta route is currently becoming quite crowded, he added.

The Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road project is part of the government’s super-priority programs considering its significance for Central Java and Yogyakarta’s Joglosemar golden triangle, he said.

Therefore, while striving to complete the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road section to boost the development of Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang’s golden triangle areas, the government will also commence the Bawen-Yogyakarta development project, he informed.

“We hope this golden triangle will boost economic activities in the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta,” Hadimuljono said.

Through easy access to the interconnected toll roads, passengers of international cruise ships anchoring at Semarang city’s Tanjung Mas Port, for instance, would hopefully prefer staying at hotels in cities such as Magelang and Yogyakarta instead of their cabins on the vessels, he said.

Since the first and second leadership terms of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), infrastructure development has held special significance, with the notable extension of toll roads bearing testament to it.

ccording to the Public Works and Housing Ministry, during President Widodo’s first leadership term, at least 941 kilometers (km) of toll roads and 3,423 km of national roads were constructed.

Work on the Trans-Java Highway connecting the ferry port in Merak, Banten province, and Surabaya, East Java province, has also been completed, thereby reducing the travel time and logistics costs.

s part of the central government’s prioritized development projects, toll roads are not merely being constructed in Java, but also outside the island, such as in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

In Sumatra Island, several sections of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road have been completed, and the government is seeking to complete all sections by 2024.

Work on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road project is still underway. State-owned construction companies involved in the project have been striving ceaselessly to ensure it is completed within the deadline.

Bali’s special task force to crackdown on foreigners working illegally

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – The Bali provincial authority has set up a special task force to crackdown on foreign tourists working in the province illegally without working visa, Bali Tourism Office Head Tjok Bagus Pemayun stated.Despite no reports received from relevant tourism actors or public members on illegal foreign workers, he noted that the task force, which includes local officials and the immigration office, will continue monitoring the foreigners’ activities.

“We have the municipal police (Satpol PP), the Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Office, the Industry and Trade Office for the permit aspect, and complete police apparatus (in the task force),” Pemayun stated here, Monday.

The local authority recorded a surge in the number of Russian nationals to Bali after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the arrival of Russians in Bali was the second-highest after Australia in January 2023.

He affirmed that the government would monitor foreigners to ensure that they conduct their activities in Indonesia in accordance with their visa and take action against foreigners found violating the visa regulation.

“Everything must follow the regulation, and a holder of tourist visa cannot work. The task force will monitor the activities if they are working here,” the office head emphasized.

Indonesia has a strict working visa policy that must be followed by foreign nationals, as any violations of the working regulation will harm locals in Bali, he stated.

Pemayun said the task force would work according to its assignments, including actions against minor, medium, or major violations.

“I cannot determine (the sanction), but we will follow all regulations. Any deportations will be done if necessary. We have no target, as our focus is to follow all regulations,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Office Head IB Setiawan stated that the task force would screen the foreign nationals’ data, as one challenge in the monitoring works is to assess the incoming and outcoming data.

“This needs more than just (works) in the provincial authority and district and city authorities but also the central (government), as the system is centered there. The Immigration (Office) also played its role in the entry of foreign nationals to Bali or through Jakarta,” Setiawan stated.

He affirmed that strategies will be devised to anticipate cases of foreign nationals working illegally by recording the individuals and cooperating with the local Tourism Office.

OJK to strengthen 53 regulations to follow up on PPSK Law

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will strengthen 53 OJK regulations (POJKs) as a follow-up to Law No. 4 of 2023 on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (PPSK), the deputy chief of OJK’s board of commissioners said. There will be regulations that will become priorities so that they can be completed faster based on the stipulations within the PPSK Law, Mirza Adityaswara informed at an online press conference on Monday.

For instance, there are regulations that will need to be strengthened within six months, a year, and even, two years, he elaborated.

“Thus, we work based on the guidance from the law,” he added.

In addition to preparing regulations for the implementation of the PPSK Law, the OJK is also undergoing internal reorganization to strengthen the agency’s monitoring and regulatory function, he informed.

In line with this, the ratification of the PPSK Law has given a more detailed guideline on the reorganization that OJK has to undertake, he said.

“This reorganization is ongoing and has not been completed. For instance, as you may have heard, we created a department for market conduct. Behavior monitoring has its own department,” he informed.

OJK will also add departmental units for monitoring the capital market industry’s functioning. The monitoring strengthening will include separating the function of monitoring investment managers and securities agencies.

Meanwhile, as part of its non-bank financial industry monitoring function, OJK will separate the department for insurance monitoring and pension fund monitoring to produce a more optimal outcome.

“Initially, monitoring of the insurance and pension fund was done by one department, but since it is too heavy, we separate it,” he explained.

Within the banking monitoring function, OJK will establish a department to monitor banking conglomerates.

“This is also the mandate from the PPSK Law,” the former senior deputy governor of Bank Indonesia said.
