Support creative economy revival through Creative by Indonesia: Uno

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno has expressed support for the revival of Indonesia’s creative economy products with the launch of the “Creative by Indonesia” social media account.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is seeking to support the revival of creative economy products, wherein its 17 sub-sectors will contribute 7.4 percent to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), he said.

Moreover, more than 22.5 million Indonesian citizens depend on the creative sector for their livelihood, he noted during the “Creative by Indonesia” social media account unveiling here on Wednesday.

The new social media account for the creative economy sector is expected to help promote and disseminate information about Indonesian creative economy products from various sub-sectors.

The sub-sectors comprise fashion, culinary, craft, music, film, animation, games, application, television, radio, product design, and shows.

Meanwhile, concerning the selection of products that will be promoted on the account, Uno informed that the ministry will create a special team for the curation process.

“And we also have many outlets in addition to ‘Creative by Indonesia’ that we can help amplify so that Indonesian products can be the host in their own country,” he said.

Meanwhile, marketing deputy at the ministry, Ni Ayu Made Marthini, said that the social media platform can help creative economy actors promote their products.

The ministry will support the platform from and by industry actors, which they will facilitate, she noted.

Moreover, the ministry has invited actors to utilize the platform so that they can showcase their products, get inspiration, and develop the sub-sectors in Indonesia, she added.

During the unveiling of the social media account, Uno also informed that the event organizing license in Indonesia will be packaged in a digital form.

Lampung projects 687,750 tons rice harvest

The government of Lampung has projected that the province’s rice production will reach 687,750 tons during the 2023 harvest season.

“In this year’s harvest (season), rice production in Lampung is predicted to reach 687,750 tons rice equivalent,” assistant for economic affairs and development in the Lampung provincial government, Kusnardi, said here on Wednesday.

He explained that the projection is based on the cumulative harvest in 15 districts and cities in the province.

Central Lampung district is predicted to be the most significant contributor of rice during the harvest until March, he noted.

He said that the arrival of the harvest season is expected to stabilize rice prices, which are fluctuating in the market.

“The maximal absorption of unhulled rice during the harvest season is expected to control rice prices so that inflation can be controlled,” he said.

Meanwhile, deputy head of the Lampung Regional Division of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), Lilik Nurcholiq, said that the Lampung Bulog will strive to maximally absorb unhusked rice from farmers to maintain food reserves.

According to Nurcholiq, the maximal absorption of unhulled rice will be carried out with several provisions, for instance, the price and quality will have to meet the required specifications.

According to data from the provincial office of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), in 2022, Lampung’s rice harvest area reached 516.91 thousand hectares, reflecting an increase of 27.34 thousand hectares compared to 489.57 thousand hectares in 2021.

Meanwhile, the province’s rice production in 2022 was estimated to reach 2.66 million tons for unhusked rice, an increase of 175.91 thousand tons from the production in 2021.

As for the production of rice for community consumption, in 2022, it was estimated at 1.53 million tons, an increase of 101.12 thousand tons compared to 2021, when it stood at 1.43 million tons.

NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TMC the metals company Inc. (NASDAQ: TMC) (“The Metals Company” or “TMC”) today announced a strategic partnership with Low Carbon Royalties Inc. (“Low Carbon Royalties” or “LCR”) to finance the development and production of low-carbon fuels and energy transition metals. TMC and LCR have agreed to a purchase and sale agreement (the “Agreement”) whereby LCR has acquired a 2.0% gross overriding royalty on any future revenue derived from TMC’s NORI area in the Clarion Clipperton Zone of the Pacific Ocean (“NORI Royalty”). In consideration for the NORI Royalty, TMC received a 35.0% strategic equity interest in LCR and US$5,000,000 cash. TMC will retain the right to repurchase up to 75% of the NORI Royalty at an agreed capped return, exercisable in two transactions, between the second and the tenth anniversary of the Agreement. If both repurchase transactions are executed, LCR’s remaining gross overriding royalty on the NORI project revenue will be 0.5%.

The NORI Royalty has been added to the LCR portfolio that contains a 1.6% gross overriding royalty on a producing natural gas field in Latin America, providing exposure to a lower-carbon transition fuel aligned with government emissions reduction policies. LCR is committed to expanding its portfolio of assets to deliver a new source of funding to producers of low-carbon energy and energy transition metals while delivering the high shareholder returns typical of the revenue royalty business model.

Q4 2022

  • Consistent strong performance from continuing operations resulted in fourth quarter revenue increasing 28% to $591 million, income from continuing operations increasing 59% to $99 million, and Adjusted EBITDA increasing 43% to $268 million.
    • Including results from discontinued operations of the UK Storage segment, Q4 2022 net income was $86 million and Adjusted EBITDA was $280 million.
  • Q4 2022 Adjusted EBITDA Margin from continuing operations of 45.4% expanded 480 basis points year-over-year.

Fourth Quarter 2022 Results2

Consolidated Q4 2022 Results From Continuing Operations

We estimate that recent acquisitions completed in 2022 contributed approximately $38.0 million to total revenues for the year ended December 31, 2022.
  • Generated income from continuing operations of $276.3 million for the year ended December 31, 2022, representing an increase of $161.4 million versus the year ended December 31, 2021. Net Income including income from discontinued operations was $339.5 million for the year ended December 31, 2022, representing an increase of $179.4 million versus the year ended December 31, 2021.

Reconciliation of Non-GAAP Financial Measures

In addition to using GAAP financial measurements, we use certain non-GAAP financial information that we believe is important for purposes of comparison to prior periods and development of future projections and earnings growth prospects. This information is also used by management to measure the profitability of our ongoing operations and analyze our business performance and trends.

We evaluate business segment performance on Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP measure that excludes certain items as described below. We believe that evaluating segment performance excluding such items is meaningful because it provides insight with respect to intrinsic operating results of the Company.

We also regularly evaluate gross profit by segment to assist in the assessment of the operational performance of each operating segment. We consider Adjusted EBITDA to be the more important metric because it more fully captures the business performance of the segments, inclusive of indirect costs.

We also evaluate Free Cash Flow, a non-GAAP measure that provides useful information concerning cash flow available to fund our capital allocation alternatives.

Adjusted EBITDA
Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP measure defined as net income (loss) before income tax expense (benefit), net interest (income) expense, depreciation and amortization adjusted for certain items not related to our core business operations, including net currency (gains) losses, goodwill and other impairment charges, restructuring costs, transaction costs, costs to integrate acquired companies, non-cash charges for stock compensation plans, gains and losses resulting from changes in fair value and extinguishment of common stock warrant liabilities, and other discrete expenses.

  • Currency (gains) losses, net: on monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies other than the subsidiaries’ functional currency. Substantially all such currency gains (losses) are unrealized and attributable to financings due to and from affiliated companies.
  • Goodwill and other impairment charges related to non-cash costs associated with impairment charges to goodwill, other intangibles, rental fleet and property, plant and equipment.
  • Restructuring costs, lease impairment expense, and other related charges associated with restructuring plans designed to streamline operations and reduce costs including employee termination costs.
  • Transaction costs including legal and professional fees and other transaction specific related costs.
  • Costs to integrate acquired companies, including outside professional fees, non-capitalized costs associated with system integrations, non-lease branch and fleet relocation expenses, employee training costs, and other costs required to realize cost or revenue synergies.
  • Non-cash charges for stock compensation plans.
  • Gains and losses resulting from changes in fair value and extinguishment of common stock warrant liabilities.
  • Other expense, including consulting expenses related to certain one-time projects, financing costs not classified as interest expense, and gains and losses on disposals of property, plant, and equipment.

Adjusted EBITDA has limitations as an analytical tool, and you should not consider the measure in isolation or as a substitute for net income (loss), cash flow from operations or other methods of analyzing the Company’s results as reported under US GAAP. Some of these limitations are:

  • Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect changes in, or cash requirements for our working capital needs;
  • Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect our interest expense, or the cash requirements necessary to service interest or principal payments, on our indebtedness;
  • Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect our tax expense or the cash requirements to pay our taxes;
  • Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect historical cash expenditures or future requirements for capital expenditures or contractual commitments;
  • Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect the impact on earnings or changes resulting from matters that we consider not to be indicative of our future operations;
  • although depreciation and amortization are non-cash charges, the assets being depreciated and amortized will often have to be replaced in the future and Adjusted EBITDA does not reflect any cash requirements for such replacements; and
  • other companies in our industry may calculate Adjusted EBITDA differently, limiting its usefulness as a comparative measure.

Because of these limitations, Adjusted EBITDA should not be considered as discretionary cash available to reinvest in the growth of our business or as measures of cash that will be available to meet our obligations.

Net CAPEX

Return on Invested Capital

Return on Invested Capital is defined as adjusted earnings before interest and amortization divided by net assets. Adjusted earnings before interest and amortization is the sum of income (loss) before income tax expense, net interest (income) expense, amortization adjusted for non-cash items considered non-core to business operations including net currency (gains) losses, goodwill and other impairment charges, restructuring costs, costs to integrate acquired companies, non-cash charges for stock compensation plans, gains and losses resulting from changes in fair value and extinguishment of common stock warrant liabilities, and other discrete expenses, reduced by estimated taxes. Given we are not a significant US taxpayer due to our current tax attributes, we include estimated taxes at our current statutory tax rate of approximately 25%. Net assets is total assets less goodwill, and intangible assets, net and all non-interest bearing liabilities. Denominator is calculated as a four quarter average for year-to-date metrics and two quarter average for quarterly metrics.

The following table provides unaudited reconciliations of Return on Invested Capital. Average Invested Capital and Adjusted EBITDA related to our prior Tank and Pump Division has been excluded prospectively from July 1, 2022 only and prior periods have not been adjusted.
