Bangkok: The 1st Army Region Commander, Lt. Gen. Amorn Bunsuya, has addressed recent allegations linking him to political activities and inter-army conflicts, asserting that his focus remains on cooperation within the military.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Amorn spoke out for the first time following social media claims that connected him to political matters and military personnel transfers. He clarified that the First Army Region, characterized by its flat terrain and community settlements, is being incorrectly portrayed as politically charged or involved in contentious appointments and transfers. He emphasized that these allegations are unfounded.
In a recent interaction with the media at Ban Nong Chan, Sa Kaeo Province, Lt. Gen. Amorn provided insights during the RBC meeting and with the temporary observer team (IOT). He distinguished the First Army Region from the Second, noting the differences in their strategic landscapes. While the Second Army Region is marked by cliffs, the First comprises adjacent rice fields, which he described as less contentious.
Lt. Gen. Amorn addressed rumors of discord among soldiers, stating, "As for the other matter, people are talking about 'me and'." He paused to stress his point, "We're very close. We've worked together all along. But people keep talking about it. It's normal. I'm not doing that. I'm just working." This statement was aimed at dispelling notions of any internal strife within the ranks.
