12-Year-Old Boy Rescued After Foot Trapped in Escalator at Nakhon Si Thammarat Mall

Nakhon Si Thammarat: Rescuers swiftly responded to an incident involving a 12-year-old boy whose foot became trapped in an escalator at a well-known shopping mall in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The accident resulted in a fractured bone in the boy's toe.

According to Thai News Agency, the Nakhon Si Thammarat City Police were alerted on June 14 about the accident, which took place at a shopping mall on Si Prachan Road, Tha Wang Subdistrict, Mueang District. The boy, a male student, encountered the mishap while climbing an escalator to visit his mother, who worked on the fourth floor of the mall.

The incident unfolded on the third-floor escalator, where the boy's right foot was pinched at the tip. Volunteers from the Tai Tek Tung Foundation, alongside the mall's technical staff, employed cutting and prying equipment to free the boy's foot. After considerable effort, they successfully extricated him before administering first aid and transporting him to Nakarin Hospital for further treatment.

Investigations revealed that the boy's foot was caught by the prong of the escalator as he tripped while ascending to the third floor. The escalator's automatic safety system promptly stopped it, preventing further injury. The boy's sneakers offered some protection, yet the force of the escalator led to a fractured bone, necessitating surgical intervention.
