Young Man Lured and Shot in High-Speed Highway Chase

Bang sai: A 27-year-old man identified as Chakkrit was the victim of a harrowing incident that began with a seemingly innocent meeting but quickly escalated into a dangerous chase and shooting. Chakkrit, who had only known a woman named Tawan for two days, was lured to a location in Sam Khok, Pathum Thani, at 2 a.m. where he narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation.

According to Thai News Agency, Chakkrit had arranged to pick up Tawan but became suspicious when she attempted to drive him into a dark rice field. His instincts to turn away proved correct as he was soon cut off by a gray sedan carrying approximately three passengers and pursued by a white sedan from behind. In an effort to escape, Chakkrit drove 20 kilometers, merging onto Highway 9 (Bang Pa-in-Bang Bua Thong), when he heard what he believed to be gunshots.

As Chakkrit drove to save his life, his car lost control and plunged into an irrigation canal on Highway 9, Bang Pa-in, in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The canal's water was two meters deep, and Chakkrit was unable to open the car door. A fisherman in the area heroically intervened, smashing the car's window with a rock, allowing Chakkrit to escape. Despite suffering minor facial cuts and being in shock, he was otherwise unharmed.

The gray sedan, which had initially cut him off, drove away after presumably thinking Chakkrit had not survived. Investigators from the Chang Yai Police Station have identified the passengers as acquaintances of Chakkrit and suspect that Tawan acted as a decoy, possibly due to jealousy. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace the perpetrators' escape route.
