**maha sarakham:** Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy following a Morlam music performance in the Borabue District. The suspect, identified as Mr. Anonwat, allegedly acted out of vengeance after a previous altercation with the victim's group of friends, police said. According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the incident at approximately 2:00 a.m. on October 21, 2024, as a group of nearly 20 teenagers were returning home on motorcycles from a Morlam festival held at a local temple. The footage shows an assailant emerging from the roadside and firing a gun at the group. A bullet struck Nong Decha, 14, who was riding on the back of a motorcycle, causing him to fall and later succumb to his injuries. Police from Borabue Police Station have since detained Mr. Anonwat, who has confessed to the crime. The suspect disclosed that his actions were fueled by a grudge stemming from a confrontation four months earlier at a different folk music fe stival. On the night of the shooting, Mr. Anonwat claimed he felt provoked again by the same group, leading him to retrieve a homemade shotgun and ambush the teenagers. Mr. Anonwat faces charges of intentional murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. During the investigation, he led officers to the scene of the crime, where he demonstrated how he had hidden in a drain before opening fire. After the shooting, he concealed the weapon by burying it at his home. Authorities have confiscated a homemade shotgun, ammunition, clothing worn during the incident, and other items linked to the crime. The suspect is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. Source: Thai News Agency
