Xin Ke Yuan Postpones Announcement of Steel Test Results Pending Ministry Statement

Bangkok: Xin Ke Yuan, the owner of the steel used in the construction of the Office of the Auditor General's building that collapsed, has announced a delay in releasing the results of their steel inspection, citing the need to first hear from the Ministry of Industry.

According to Thai News Agency, Xin Ke Yuan Steel Company Limited initially invited media representatives to attend a statement regarding suspicions about their steel bars not meeting the Industrial Product Standards (TIS) of the Ministry of Industry. This event was scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lilawadi Room, Rama Gardens Hotel, Vibhavadi Road. However, a follow-up letter sent by the company to the media today announced the postponement of this statement.

The letter explained that the reason for delaying the press conference was due to an upcoming press conference by the Ministry of Industry on April 10, 2025, addressing the same issue. Xin Ke Yuan expressed their intention to first listen to the Ministry's statement to align with governmental policies and comply with legal and regulatory standards. Mr. Chen Jianqi and Mr. Somphan Pankaew, both company directors, were listed at the bottom of the document. They emphasized the importance of respecting governmental considerations and ensuring future compliance with Ministry regulations.

The company has yet to specify a new date for the press conference, only indicating that further announcements will be made soon.
