Bangkok: Wisut Chainarun, a Pheu Thai Party list MP and chairman of the Government Coalition Coordination Committee, has expressed confidence in the justice system as the Constitutional Court prepares to deliver its ruling on an audio clip involving Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Samdech Hun Sen. Wisut stated that even with a narrow margin, the situation can be maintained and questioned the necessity of dissolving the House of Representatives.
According to Thai News Agency, Wisut has no contingency plan should the court issue an unfavorable verdict. He remains confident that Prime Minister Paetongtarn will receive fair treatment and emphasized her positive outlook, stating that she has no intention of resigning. He also highlighted the unity between the two parties, despite their slim majority, and their commitment to addressing ongoing issues.
Wisut addressed the scheduled court ruling, noting that while there are differing opinions within the Pheu Thai Party regarding the timing of the decision, the majority of MPs seek a swift resolution to maximize their collaborative efforts. He expressed belief in the Prime Minister's intentions, citing her diplomatic efforts during a critical border situation in Cambodia that aimed to safeguard Thai citizens.
When questioned about recent court developments, Wisut shared that several MPs met with the Prime Minister, who offered them encouragement. He reiterated his faith in the justice system and the Prime Minister's innocence, dismissing any consideration of a backup plan.
Rumors of the Prime Minister's resignation were also refuted by Wisut, who stated that no such discussions occurred. He affirmed that there is no need to dissolve Parliament, as there are pressing issues, including border concerns, that require attention. Additionally, government agencies are actively working to combat drug-related activities and call center scams.
Wisut expressed optimism about the current situation, highlighting improvements in the economy and the effective release of the budget. He concluded by affirming that the Pheu Thai Party, despite its small majority, remains united and capable of sustaining Parliament, with no intentions of defecting to the opposition.
