Wild Elephant Birth Control Vaccine Aims to Mitigate Human-Elephant Conflict

Bangkok: The Department of National Parks convened a meeting to discuss and gather feedback on a project involving the use of a 'wild elephant birth control vaccine.' This initiative is proposed as a potential solution to the ongoing issue of elephants leaving their forest habitats and causing damage to agricultural crops and property.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting revealed mixed reactions from the community, with some supporting the project and others expressing opposition. The vaccine is intended to be a tool in reducing the human-elephant conflict by controlling the population of wild elephants, thereby minimizing their encroachment into human-inhabited areas.
