Wife of a victim of illegal liquor receives her husband's body amidst grief, criticizing the person who mixed and sold illegal liquor for being greedy for money and not caring about people's lives. Ms. Wanida, 39 years old, the wife of one of the deceased, traveled to contact the documents at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital, to receive the body of Mr. Chalie, 47 years old, her husband, after he died at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital from methanol poisoning from drinking bootleg liquor on August 26. Ms. Wanida tearfully said that she had known her husband for 20 years and had 2 children together. Her husband usually drank beer and liquor, but nothing bad had ever happened. She was also concerned about the manufacturer adding ingredients that were harmful to many people who drank it. On August 21, 2014, her husband drank bootleg liquor but did not have any symptoms. Then, on the morning of August 22, 2014, her husband picked her up from work and told her about his symptoms, saying t hat he was very drunk, dizzy, and lightheaded. When he woke up in the evening, his symptoms had not improved. He vomited, could not walk, breathed rapidly, and had blurred vision. He could not communicate. When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor asked what he had eaten because he found that he had high levels of methamphetamine in his body, which made his blood acidic. She admitted that her husband had diabetes in the past, but had never had any side effects. Until recently, he had severe abnormalities and died. I would like to meet the person who mixed the illegal liquor and would like to ask that a person's life should not have been experimented with like this. If you are after money, you can't take anything with you when you die, causing trouble for others. As for my husband's death, I still can't accept it. I feel sad and don't know what to say about what happened. Right now, I want to finish my husband's funeral first. As for the other deceased, my husband knew him because they were from the same area, but they didn't sit and drink together. I don't know where the other deceased drank the illegal liquor because they died in different hospitals. After this, I will consult with a lawyer to gather the victims to file a civil lawsuit against the related parties. After this, when the paperwork is complete, the body will be taken back to perform religious rites at Wat Saensuk, Min Buri District, tomorrow (28 August). Source: Thai News Agency
