Warning Issued as Scammers Impersonate National Leaders to Solicit Donations

Bangkok: Cyber police warn of scammers impersonating national leaders and celebrities, randomly sending private messages to citizens asking them to donate money. Cyber police have come out to warn the public because there are currently scammers who have created fake accounts pretending to be famous people, such as national leaders, influencers, and celebrities, and then randomly contact them via chat with messages inviting them to transfer money through various channels in exchange for prizes or various forms of compensation.

According to Thai News Agency, the public is urged to exercise caution and verify profiles every time they receive such messages. It is emphasized that famous people and government officials do not contact strangers to ask for personal money. Citizens are advised not to click on any links attached to these messages or transfer money. In cases where individuals are deceived online, they are encouraged to report it promptly at thaipoliceonline.go.th or call the hotline 1441.

Authorities also recommend that the public help spread awareness by sharing the warning with people around them to prevent further deception by online scammers. The call to action is clear: join together to stop the deception of online scammers.
