Warawut Stands Firm on Government Whip’s Resolution Amidst Thaksin Directive Rumors

Bangkok: Warawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security and leader of the Chartthaipattana Party, has declared his commitment to adhering to the government whip's resolution amidst circulating rumors about former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's directives to coalition parties.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Warawut addressed the news alleging that Thaksin has ordered coalition parties to maintain unity in voting for the Entertainment Complex Act, threatening expulsion for non-compliance. He expressed unawareness of such directives and noted that he had not engaged in discussions regarding them. Warawut emphasized his intention to follow the decisions made by the government coalition party coordination committee, known as the government whip. Despite reports seen on April 7, which were denied by the Pheu Thai Party, Warawut maintained that he has no further information and is awaiting the whip meeting's conclusions.

Mr. Warawut highlighted that the coalition parties' direction would depend on the outcomes of the government whips' meeting, anticipated to occur on April 9th. The meeting's results will guide the parties' actions, and Warawut reiterated his alignment with the government whip's resolution.

When questioned about the Chartthaipattana Party's stance on the Entertainment Complex Act, Warawut stated he was awaiting insights from the impending government whip meeting. He dismissed inquiries about the possibility of expulsion from the coalition, citing a lack of awareness about such claims.

Addressing concerns over public opposition to the bill, Warawut acknowledged media reports but insisted on observing developments as the legislative branch deliberates the matter in the House of Representatives. He reaffirmed his commitment to the government whip's resolution. Furthermore, he confirmed that the issue had been discussed in a Cabinet meeting when asked about the Prime Minister's request for cooperation.
