Wan Nor Attends China Eurasia Expo in Xinjiang, Promotes Thailand’s Future Participation

Urumqi: Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives, attended the opening ceremony of the China Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo in Xinjiang. The event highlighted cooperation between Asia and Europe and celebrated the prosperity of the Silk Road. Mr. Wan Nor expressed his commitment to pushing for Thailand's participation in next year's event.

According to Thai News Agency, the expo was attended by high-ranking officials including the Secretary of the Communist Party of Xinjiang, the Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Assembly, and the Chairman of the Xinjiang Provincial Assembly. A notable attraction was a robot dancing to Chinese songs, showcasing one of the innovative products at the event. The annual trade fair, the largest in Xinjiang, aims to foster trade and investment between China and countries in Asia and Europe.

Ai Erken Tuni Yamu, President of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, emphasized Urumqi's strategic importance under the 'One Belt One Road' initiative. He highlighted its role as a connection point between Eastern and Western civilizations, promoting exchanges between China and Asian and European nations. The region is focused on becoming a key route for Asia-Europe trade and an important gateway for China's expansion westward.

The expo theme, "Sharing the Prosperity of the Silk Road," drew representatives from 50 countries and regions, alongside over 2,800 domestic and international companies. More than 60 trade promotion activities took place, serving as a platform for practical cooperation and enhancing Xinjiang's collaboration with countries along the "One Belt One Road."

Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor also visited the Xinjiang Regional People's Congress History Exhibition Hall, which featured a wide array of products. He showed interest in booths showcasing Xinjiang's renowned cotton products and agricultural technologies, including drones. He expressed his intention to support Thailand's participation in the 2026 exhibition, recognizing the quality and potential of Xinjiang's cotton products.

During an interview, Mr. Wan Nor praised Xinjiang's cotton clothing for its quality and practicality, noting that it requires no ironing. He suggested that these products be introduced to Thai consumers for mutual benefits to users and cotton farmers. He concluded by affirming his intention to attend the expo again next year.
