Ubon ratchathani: Villagers in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, are rushing to build bunkers in preparation for potential unrest along the border following the dismantling of the barbed wire fence at Chong An Ma by Cambodian soldiers.
According to Thai News Agency, Thai soldiers discovered that five Cambodian soldiers had entered the area near Chong An Ma Market and dismantled the barbed wire fence, which was placed by the Thai side as a boundary. The Cambodian soldiers were ordered to cease their actions and leave, after which Thai soldiers restored the fence and maintained a presence for ongoing surveillance.
A news team reported that the situation along the border remains normal. Each village has a Village Defense Volunteer unit that conducts regular patrols. Many villages already have bunkers for shelter, while others are quickly building them to prepare for any developments.
Interviews with villagers revealed that some communities have not yet received assistance from government agencies, compelling them to rely on their own resources. This includes sending food supplies to soldiers stationed along the border.
Continued vigilance is required in the area tonight, as villagers await the results of the GBC meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Meanwhile, some villagers have temporarily left their shelters to return home for work, as they are engaged in rubber tapping.
