Varawut Silpa-archa Sends Team to Support Soldiers Injured by Landmine Near Thai-Cambodian Border

Sisaket: "Varawut" dispatched a team to visit and offer encouragement to three soldiers who suffered injuries after stepping on a landmine. The team engaged with the soldiers, providing necessary assistance, and plans are underway to send a team for mental health rehabilitation at the soldiers' homes.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, announced that soldiers patrolling the Thai-Cambodian border were injured while inspecting a route for laying barbed wire near the Ban Don Ao-Kritsana border in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. The Ministry's Center for Accelerated Action on Public Welfare (CRES) reported that Mr. Wisit Phondok, the Provincial Social Development and Human Security Officer of Ubon Ratchathani Province, led a visit to the Sapphasitthiprasong Camp Hospital in Warin Chamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, to support the three soldiers.

Sergeant Major Thani Phaha from Phana District, Amnat Charoen Province, suffered a severed left ankle. Private First Class Phakphum Chaisura from Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province, was injured by the blast's force. Private Thanachai Kaiwong from Muang District, Yasothon Province, sustained shrapnel injuries to his right ear and torso.

Consultations and advice were offered regarding welfare rights provided by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and related agencies. CRES will coordinate assistance with the centers in Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Phanom, and Yasothon Provinces, where the soldiers are from. These efforts aim to facilitate visits to their families post-treatment, offering assistance related to welfare rights and focusing on the mental health of the injured soldiers and their families, aiding in their return to normalcy.
