Vajira Hospital Halts Outpatient Services for Two Days Due to Road Subsidence

Bangkok: Vajira Hospital has temporarily closed its outpatient services for two days after a road subsidence incident near the facility, although the hospital buildings remain unaffected. The decision was made to address potential challenges faced by staff in commuting to work.

According to Thai News Agency, Assistant Professor Dr. Chakrawut Maneerit, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Vajira Hospital, explained that the road surface collapse occurred in front of Wichian Hospital. Despite the incident, the hospital structures, including the Theepangkorn Building, are secure due to a 60-meter-deep retaining wall. To prevent traffic congestion and ensure safety, the outpatient services have been suspended temporarily, but the hospital remains operational for emergencies. The closure aims to mitigate travel difficulties for hospital staff, though patient transport is still accessible via alternative entrances.
