Opened a complaint to the House Consumer Protection Board Committee. Found that early in 2023, someone complained to the committee that they invested over 200,000 baht and only got 50 tubes of toothpaste. Indicating that it was not as advertised, they requested a refund. The Icon Group explained that the remaining toothpaste was stored in storage. If you want to sell it, you can order it. In the end, the subcommittee sent it to the Consumer Protection Board to mediate and ended well. The money was fully refunded. Reporters reported that from the case where a clip of a man's voice was shared claiming to be able to clear things up with the committee in the case of The Icon, Boss Paul Waratpol later came out to state that the clip happened 2 years ago. From examining the complaints in the past of the House of Representatives, it was found that during the previous House of Representatives (25th) in January, a woman came to complain to the House of Representatives Consumer Protection Committee, chaired by Mr. Ma na Lohawanit, Chaiyaphum MP of the Pheu Thai Party, that The Icon Group Company Limited did not act according to the contract and invited them to be a product distributor. This matter was then brought to the subcommittee meeting chaired by Ms. Manop Charoensri, MP for Nakhon Phanom, Pheu Thai Party. The gist of the matter was that the woman had seen an advertisement for online sales by The Icon Group on television and was interested in the online sales. She therefore contacted the product distributor to inquire about the contract terms. The distributor invited her to invest in the company, recommending three investment options: 2,500 baht, 25,000 baht, and 260,000 baht. She also offered that if she invested by September 11, 2022, she would receive a 50,000 baht discount and 1,050 tubes of toothpaste, with a dividend of 5 baht per tube of toothpaste sold. The woman therefore agreed to sign a contract for 211,115 baht. But the truth is that the distributor only delivered 50 tubes of toothpaste out of the tota l 1,050 tubes. The victim felt that this was not in accordance with the contract, so she returned the toothpaste and asked for a full refund, but the distributor refused to refund the money. While the representative of The Icon Company explained in the subcommittee that the company registered for direct marketing business, the nature of the business is the distribution of dietary supplements by distributors. The company was informed by the Consumer Protection Board that the petitioner had filed a complaint that he had been invited to apply to buy products, which later he saw was not as the company stated, so he requested a refund. The company's customer service center called the person who submitted the complaint to find a solution to the problem that occurred, but did not receive any response. He also emphasized that the supporting documents, the ID card used for the application, stated that it was only for making a contract or applying to be a distributor with The Icon Group Company. 50 tubes of toothpaste were sent to the petitioner and the remaining 1,000 tubes were deposited in the company's warehouse. If the distributors wanted the products, they could order them through the company's website, and the company would deliver the products immediately. After the subcommittee meeting, the meeting resolved to forward the complaint to the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) to mediate the dispute on January 20, 2023. After the mediation, the OCPB sent a letter back to the main committee stating that the parties were able to reach an agreement and that the company would refund 211,115 baht. -315-Thai News Agency Source: Thai News Agency
