Two Doctors From Police General Hospital Investigated in Thaksin Case on 14th Floor

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has disclosed advancements in the investigation involving two doctors from the Police General Hospital connected to the "Thaksin" case on the 14th floor.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabutr, the Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police, provided an update regarding the investigation committee's proceedings that involve Pol. Lt. Gen. Sophonrat Singhajaru and Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin Wetchavitarn. Pol. Lt. Gen. Sophonrat, who serves as the Assistant Commissioner-General, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner-General, while Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin holds the position of Chief Medical Officer. Both were involved in the medical treatment of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The Medical Council's documents, containing resolutions and evidence, have reportedly been forwarded to Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police.

The potential suspension of the two doctors from their duties as police officers remains uncertain at this stage. The situation will be determined following the completion of the fact-finding process, in adherence to police disciplinary procedures. Pol. Gen. Thatchai mentioned that he is currently unaware if other agencies have sought to question the two doctors, and any decision to involve additional medical personnel in the investigation will depend on the committee's deliberations.
