Tour Bus Fire in Ko Kha District: Authorities Investigate Cause as Passengers Escape Unharmed

KO KHA: Officials are actively investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed a tour bus in Ko Kha District, Lampang Province, as it was en route to Chiang Mai. All 40 passengers on board managed to evacuate safely, with no reported injuries.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. at kilometer 672 on the road leading into Lampang Province, specifically in Na Saeng Subdistrict. The bus driver, identified as Mr. Kriangkrai, reported that the engine began emitting smoke, and the 'Engine' warning light illuminated moments before the fire started. Acting quickly, he pulled over to the side of the road, allowing passengers to disembark before the flames spread from the rear to the upper level of the bus.

Emergency response teams, including no fewer than five firefighting units with water trucks, arrived promptly to combat the blaze. It took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Meanwhile, officers from the Highway Police of Lampang and Ko Kha Police Station have conducted an initial inspection of the scene. They are continuing to question the driver to determine the precise cause of the incident.
