Bangkok: Three Thai nationals involved in the China Railway Company's nominee case have surrendered to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
According to Thai News Agency, the surrender comes after the DSI arrested Mr. Chuanling Zhang, a Chinese national and director of China Railway Number 10 (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Mr. Zhang was sent to court for detention, prompting the three Thai suspects, Mr. Prachuap, Mr. Manas, and Mr. Sophon, to turn themselves in to DSI investigators at the Government Complex. Investigators revealed that these individuals, who are shareholders in China Railway Co., Ltd., had already made contact to arrange their surrender. Mr. Manas holds 0.0003% of the shares, Mr. Prachuap holds 10.2%, and Mr. Sophon holds 40.7997%. The DSI's investigation suggests that the three do not possess the capacity to manage a large business nor have expertise in construction engineering. Additionally, they reportedly hold shares in several other legal entities.
A lawyer representing Mr. Manas brought documents to clarify their case, stating that the three individuals did not commit the actions they are accused of. The lawyer emphasized the need to review the information and provide documentation to support their claims.
Special case investigators will formally inform the accused of the charges and their rights. The three committee members will be questioned with their lawyers present. Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Director of the Consumer Protection Division and Deputy Chief of the Special Case Investigation Team, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Amorn Hongsrithong, Director of the Bid Collusion Division, will be part of the investigation process.
