The National Police Chief asks society not to view the police and DSI as competing for work in the Icon Group case.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat, the national police chief, asked society not to think that the DSI is stealing police work in the Icon Group case. He believes that everyone sees the suffering of the people. He has ordered the case team to work to their full potential until the work is handed over. He revealed that he is investigating the issue of police officers wearing uniforms and providing information and knowledge as coaches for the company. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, spoke about the progress of the prosecution of 18 suspects of The Icon Group Company Limited after all of them were arrested yesterday (16 October). He said that expanding the investigation into the crime and the network of the suspects is something that the police investigation and inquiry team must proceed with according to procedure, including collecting evidence of the crime, the financial path of the suspects' accounts, and all related aspects. However, some of this depends on how much the suspects who were arrested before will cooperate with the police investigation. However, even if there is no useful information, the police officers must continue their work. In order to forward this case to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), which is informed that a committee has been set up to consider it, Pol. Gen. Kittirat said that the police have been working closely with the DSI to consider the conditions of the case, the number of victims, the amount of assets, and the basis of the offense, so that the handover is in accordance with the law. While the handover has not yet been made, the investigators themselves will investigate and expand the results to the end. The fact that the DSI yesterday set up a working committee to consider it, he believes that it is preparing to consider whether this matter fits with its authority or not. However, I don't want society to think that there is a competition between agencies because each agency has different responsibilities. I admit that I feel good that ea ch organization that has the responsibility has come to help consider because it reflects that the government agencies see the suffering of our brothers and sisters who have been wronged on a wide scale. If each agency is indifferent, this will be uncomfortable. From now on, if the case is under the care of DSI and there is a request for support from the Royal Thai Police, it is confirmed that the investigators will perform their duties to the fullest extent, as well as accepting complaints from the injured public. In the future, it is possible that there will be another agency to help accept cases in addition to the Central Investigation Bureau, which is a center for accepting complaints without a set time limit. Currently, 1,100 people have filed complaints about the incident into the system. Today, it is expected that there will be 1,300 more, because each day, approximately 200-300 people will file complaints into the system. Pol. Gen. Kittirat mentioned the case of the social media sharing of a pictur e of a police officer in uniform and providing knowledge as a coach for The Icon Group Company Limited that he had seen the picture and the relevant commanding officer had already investigated. From now on, it must be proven whether the police officer in question is a coach, presenter, or has any connection with the said company or not, and whether he is involved in any wrongdoing or not. If it is found that he has actually committed a wrongdoing, he will be punished both disciplinary and criminally, since he is a police officer. It must also be asked where the police officer found the time to do this, affecting his official time, or taking away his working time for the people or not. Source: Thai News Agency
