In the House of Representatives meeting today (1 August), Mr. Wuttipong Thonglao, Prachinburi MP of the Chart Pattana Party, asked the government about the development plan for Highway No. 304, Khao Hin Son-Kabin Buri route, a main road connecting the East and the Northeast, which is an area with many industrial estates. In the past month, the condition of this road has been one of the worst in the country, with frequent accidents, property damage, and deaths. At the same time, since this road has many industrial estates, trucks will always use this road, causing damage to the road. Therefore, he would like to know what plans the Ministry of Transport has for improving this road. Mrs. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Mi nister of Transport, was assigned to answer the question, confirming that the Ministry of Transport has prepared a national transportation development plan for Highway 304, a distance of 300 kilometers. In 2024, the Department of Highways has received a budget to hire consultants to survey and design a solution to the problem. It will expand from 4 lanes to 6 traffic sections and is currently conducting an environmental impact assessment (EIA). When it is finished, the survey will be designed and a contractor will be found to proceed with the next steps. As for the picture that Mr. Wuttipong brought to show in the meeting room, Mrs. Manop said that it was a picture of the road being repaired. It was using the budget for 2024 so that the public can use it. Every 3 years, there will be a budget for repairs. But it cannot be denied that road repairs are unavoidable and must be done during the rainy season because the budget is released during this period. At the same time, the contractor has been asked to exped ite the repairs. Therefore, we must apologize to the affected people. Ms. Manop confirmed that this road is important. In the design, there are 2 sections. The first section from Ban Khao Hin Son to Ban Lat Takhian has been completed. Construction will begin at the end of 2026 using the budget in 2027. As for the second section from Lan Lat Takhian to Si Yaek Kabin Buri, the design has already begun. The EIA report will be done and construction will begin in 2027 using the budget in 2028. It is scheduled to be completed by 2031. It is believed that when this road is completed, it will have positive effects in all aspects, including providing convenience to the public. Ms. Manop reiterated that the Ministry of Transport is trying to prioritize various projects, but with a limited budget, the budget must be distributed to areas where people are suffering.
