Government House, The Cabinet has approved the draft of the 2024 budget increase bill worth 122 billion baht after sending it to the Council of State for stamping. It will be submitted to the House of Representatives for its first reading next week, along with appointing Surachet Laopoolsuk as the Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand for another term. Ms. Ratklao Intawong Suwannakiri, deputy government spokeswoman, revealed that the cabinet meeting approved the draft of the additional budget bill for fiscal year 2024 after the Office of the Council of State reviewed it. The budget was increased by 122 billion baht to be used for economic stimulus expenses and to strengthen the economic system, as tax revenue is expected to increase by 10 billion baht and loans to offset the budget deficit of 112 billion baht. The Cabinet also approved the determination of the number of special committee members to consider the draft budget to 32 people, setting the additional budget calendar for fiscal year 202 4, preparing to submit it to the House of Representatives for the first reading on July 17. In addition, Mr. Chai Wachirong, the government spokesman, revealed that the cabinet meeting approved the appointment of Mr. Surachet Laopoolsuk as the governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) for another term (4 years) because his performance passed the evaluation according to the specified criteria, receiving a fixed salary of 500,000 baht/month, including special annual compensation and other benefits that the contractor will receive according to the resolution of the Expressway Authority of Thailand Board, effective from the date of signing the employment contract onwards but not before the date of the cabinet resolution.
